Artists Share their Talents with Ceramics Students

Seventeen students in Halle McPherson Ceramics I, II, and III classes recently traveled to Baldwin Wallace University to watch and learn from professional artists Kristen Cliffel, Eva Polzer, and P.J. Hargraves.  The trio of artists demonstrated their ceramic processes on a stage so everyone had a good view.

“The relaxed symposium style event allowed students to ask questions and to view the artists’ work up close,” said McPherson. Accompanying McPherson on the field trip were teachers Elena Scotton, Coleen Murray, and Yvonne Adams.

Following the ceramics demonstration, the students visited the Fawick Art Gallery to view an assortment of finished artworks from the professionals. The students also enjoyed a picnic lunch, a tour of the campus, including a visit to the university’s Union Center where they enjoyed games and activities. “The students got the opportunity to see different facilities on campus, talk to current students and professors, and engage in student life,” noted McPherson about the students’ experiences.
