High Schoolers Explore Options for the Future

Cuyahoga Heights High School students contemplating entering college or the military after graduation took part in the annual College/Military Rep Day held on September 15 in the media center. Students met with the various representatives to learn about majors, programs, and other exciting opportunities at the various institutions.

“It (the event) encouraged students to ask questions and participate in face-to-face conversations with college and military staff, and in doing so, they students gained confidence in their application and what they have to offer,” said Guidance Counselor Holly Thrasher. “As a result, many students decided to apply to places that they may not have previously considered.” The timing of the event benefited senior students who are actively applying to colleges and universities during the months of September and October, she added.

Participants included the University of Cincinnati, Cuyahoga Community College, John Carroll University, Ohio University, Baldwin Wallace University, The Ohio State University, Cleveland State University, The University of Akron, Kent State University, Lakeland Community College, Lorain County Community College, and Notre Dame College. Also participating were the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, Air Force Reserves, and the U.S. Marines.
