Custodian Characterized as Caring and Committed to CHS

He’s only been in the school district a couple of years but Chris Clemence took no time at all to show that he cares about the school buildings he works in and the people who inhabit them. “He’s a hard worker who genuinely cares about everyone,” said Megan Schwab, Secretary to the Assistant Superintendent in her characterization of Clemence. “He’s always doing whatever he can to help anyone who may need it.”

Clemence, who is also known as “Twinkie”, has been a district custodian since June 2021 and prior to that, was a van driver. At the September 20 meeting, the Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education recognized Clemence as the September recipient of the Staff Spotlight Award. In a resolution honoring Clemence, the Board described Clemence as “a humble and genuine person who treats everyone with a great amount of respect, who truly cares about people and places their needs before his own, and who has a tremendous work ethic."

“He does not wait to be sought out but often volunteers to help, and he has an abundance of pride when it comes to our school as a whole,” stated the resolution. Clemence also was cited for having a great report with both staff and students, for leading and working alongside the Summer Maintenance Crew the past two summers, and for occasionally bringing them coffee and donuts.

According to Schwab, Clemence primarily works at the high school/middle school, but also spends time working at the elementary school. “He’s just a great guy who goes above and beyond in everything he does,” she concluded.
