Cuyahoga Heights Schools is one of only 10 districts in Cuyahoga County and only 47 in the state to achieve a five-star rating on the 2024-2025 Ohio Report Card. Now, the district can proudly boast of its achievement with a banner from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW).

ODEW Area Coordinator Ron Victor presented the banner to the district at the April 27 Board meeting. “This remarkable accomplishment highlights the district’s commitment to advancing academic achievement and supporting student success,” said Victor. “The overall five-star award recognizes those who constantly give their all in creating an engaging learning environment that fosters growth, collaboration, and success. I commend you and your team for the dedication providing the students of this community with the tools they need to excel academically and personally. You have a long-lasting impact on the lives of your students. I hope this award serves as a source of pride and accomplishment for this community and will continue to inspire success in the years ahead. I hope you will hang it with pride because it is a tremendous honor to achieve this.”

Superintendent Matt Young thanked everyone for sharing in the district’s success. “We have never not gotten five stars as a school district and it’s something that shouldn’t be taken for granted. Our students need to take a lot of pride in this. Our teachers and support staff who work directly with the students need to take a lot of credit for this. It's difficult to stay focused, and to keep pushing day after day, month and month, and year after year.”

Young went on to thank the administrative team and support staff who clear the path and sometimes support directly in the classroom, the Board of Education, and families for holding the district to high standards. “Thank you for choosing us because your students become all-stars here because of the quality of the people we have in our schools and in this community. It's something that I'm very proud of.”

The banner will be hung in a prominent place so that everyone can be reminded of its significance and share in the district’s accomplishment.
