Cuyahoga Heights Schools families came together for an evening of food, fun and school spirit during the CHS PTO District Family Tailgate on Friday, September 11.

Held in the Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School back lot, the event brought students and families together before the varsity football game. Guests enjoyed free hot dogs, snacks, and drinks, along with games and activities including face glitter, cornhole, a fowl-themed game, and free raffle giveaways sponsored by Cuyahoga Heights teachers.

The evening also featured special performances by the Mighty Marching Red Wolves Band, Drumline, Red Rubies and CHHS cheer team, helping get the crowd ready for Friday night football.

In recognition of September 11, the football game was designated Red, White & Blue Night. Fans traded their traditional Heights gear for red, white and blue, filling the stands with patriotic colors as the school community came together in remembrance.

Families could add to their school spirit with hair tinsel, face painting, and spirit tattoos. PTO merchandise and other activities were also available throughout the event.

One of the evening's attractions was the PTO raffle featuring 18 themed baskets. Prizes included The Ultimate Candy Kit Deluxe, The Great STEM Adventure, The Exclusive Red Kitchen, Pumpkins, Pies and Everything Nice, and the Spa-tacular Escape with a $50 spa gift card. 

The PTO thanked the many individuals and groups who helped make the event possible, including emcee Big Red, Music Boosters, Mighty Marching Red Wolves Band, Drumline, CHHS cheer team, Red Rubies, CHAT, Elementary and Middle School Student Councils, the First-Grade Team, the Middle/High School Art Club, the maintenance department, as well as the many teacher and parent volunteers that took the time to help make this event possible.

The Family Tailgate provided a spirited start to the evening as Cuyahoga Heights students, families and staff gathered to celebrate their school community before kickoff.
