About two dozen Cuyahoga Heights High School musicians  in grades 9-12 kicked off this year’s spring break with a four-day trip to Chicago, Illinois. The opportunity was open to students of good standing enrolled in Band, Choir, and Orchestra classes, as well as participants in Marching Band, Red Rubies Drill Team, Jazz Band, the Scarlet Angels show choir, drama activities, and others.

The travelers toured Downtown Chicago, seeing such landmarks as Millenium Park, Michigan Ave., Navy Pier, and the top of the John Hancock Building, to name a few. They also experienced art and culture by a concert featuring the Chicago Symphony, a musical performance of Hamilton, and a tour of the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition, they visited world-class museums, such as the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. They also enjoyed Medieval Times, a dinner theater experience featuring staged medieval-style jousting, sword fighting, and horsemanship, and a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan.

The trip is offered every two years. “Stay tuned to see where our musicians will be traveling in 2028!,” said music teacher Grace Brown, who oversaw coordination of the trip.
