Students alongside SkyDome in gymnasium

Cuyahoga Heights Elementary and Middle School students were seeing stars and much more when they embarked on an exciting journey through the universe during an in-school visit to the SkyDome on February 10. Students viewed a star-filled sky in a portable inflatable planetarium that was set up in the school gymnasium.

Using a digital planetarium projector and a laser pointer, a SkyDome navigator guided the students in age-appropriate lessons through the stars of the Northern Hemisphere exactly as they appeared on the day of the presentation. Students visited each planet, learning to identify each one in our solar system. They were introduced to Greek mythological characters and saw how these ancient heroes were found in the stars. They were also able to view the night sky in different seasons and from different global perspectives.

"The SkyDome was unlike anything I've ever seen before!" said fifth grader Maya Gee. “Wow! This was amazing!" remarked first grader Nahziair Williams-Hackney.

The SkyDome presentation was sponsored by the Cuyahoga Heights Schools’ Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
