The Cuyahoga Heights High School (CHHS) National Honor Society (NHS) and Cuyahoga Heights Middle School (CHMS) National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) inducted their newest members in a joint ceremony on February 2 in the high school auditorium.
The day began with “tapping” the new inductees during classes, thereby informing them of their selection. Each inductee was presented a badge signifying their accomplishment followed by a celebratory luncheon.
The joint induction ceremony was held later that evening in the Paul L. Baumgardner Auditorium. “This membership opens doors to developing leadership skills, engaging deeply in intellectual pursuits, expanding your horizons, and building relationships with like-minded peers,” Principal Scott DeTray told the new inductees in congratulating them on their accomplishment. “It is also an asset as you apply for colleges, scholarships, and future careers by helping you stand out not only for what you achieve, but for who you are.”
Current NHS officers lit candles representing the four pillars of character, scholarship, leadership, service, and a fifth pillar for the NJHS – citizenship. The new inductees recited their respective pledges and signed their names to the corresponding organization’s register, certifying their membership. The newly inducted members are:
