Hiedi Stiegelmeyer

The hands-on nature of the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center’s (CVCC) Cosmetology program is what sold Cuyahoga Heights High School (CHHS) senior Hiedi Stiegelmeyer to enroll. It changed her perspective on school, making it something she looks forward to as she actively works toward her future career. Her commitment to the program led to her recognition in the CVCC’s Student Connection for January 2026.

Choosing the Cosmetology program was an easy decision for Stiegelmeyer, who has always loved doing hair. She also appreciates knowing that cosmetology is a skill she can always fall back on, no matter where her future leads her. She is especially grateful for her instructor, Melissa Fox, and the friendships she has built with her classmates from different school districts. Working alongside peers who she can relate to and who share similar goals has made the experience even more meaningful.

This past summer, she interned at the Anthony Amato Salon in Independence, where she learned what day-to-day salon life is all about. Currently, she is focused on preparing for the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology Licensing Examination as she begins her journey toward a rewarding career in the beauty industry. Her favorite service is applying highlights and she has set a goal to become a blonding specialist.

Outside of academics, Stiegelmeyer is involved in cheerleading at CHHS. She also enjoys spending time with friends, including shopping or relaxing at a coffee shop.

Her advice to future students? “Give CVCC a try. There’s no right or wrong decision, but don’t cut yourself short – you’re never going to get this opportunity again.”
