She's a seasoned multitasker, seamlessly managing phones, doors, questions, and countless requests all at once. She is kind, caring, and helpful. She’s professional to a fault and, as the first person a parent or visitor encounters at the school, she is committed to maintaining a welcoming and supportive school environment.
“She is a truly exceptional individual who makes a positive impact on everyone around,” said Student Attendant Coleen Murray about Dani Connors, secretary to Cuyahoga Heights Middle School/High School. It’s among the many reasons why Murray nominated Connors as the Staff Spotlight recipient for May.
Conners is consistently seen interacting with students in the most compassionate and respectful manner, offering her assistance with a genuine smile and warm presence – all while keeping the school running smoothly. “Her vast knowledge of school-related matters, coupled with her willingness to stop – no matter how busy she may be – to lend a hand, provide an answer, or share an encouraging word, is both admirable and inspiring,” Murray noted.
Connors works closely with the school principal to carry out daily tasks, as well as assists teachers, staff, and students. “I couldn’t imagine doing anything else,” says Conners, who has been Middle School/High School secretary for the past 12 years. “I love the interaction with the students.”
A diehard Ohio State Buckeyes fan (she has season tickets) and a confessed college football-aholic, she says the position has taught her to be patient and to stay true to her motto – just keep swimming. “There are times in life when things are difficult and you just have to keep moving forward,” she explained. An orderly and organized environment is essential to accomplishing all she needs to do in a given day, so It’s no wonder she considers herself a “clean freak with an obsessive-compulsive tendency.”
Even when she’s not in the office, she finds ways to fulfill her desire to help. She volunteers for the Allison Rose Foundation and is currently the Athletic Booster President. “I love to help with the football and wrestling teams,” she explained, “And of course, I love my Buckeye Football!”
Connors and her husband, Mike, reside in Valley View and have four children, all graduates of Cuyahoga Heights High Schools: Joe (Class of 2020), Matt (Class of 2021), Riley (Class of 2023) and Francis (Class of 2024). The Connors are also owners of Romito’s Pizza and Dairy King in Independence.
“I’m truly blessed to work in such a great school. We have the best students and staff!, Connors concluded.
