Approximately 30 high school music students in good academic and behavioral standing will travel to Chicago March 28-31. This includes students enrolled in Band, Choir, or Orchestra classes, as well as those who participate in co-curricular music activities, including Marching Band, Red Rubies, Jazz Band, Scarlet Angels, Electric Orchestra, and Drama.

“We chose Chicago for its wealth of world-class music and theatre experiences, tourism and sightseeing opportunities, and cross-curricular learning opportunities,” said Music Director Noah Hamrick, who is coordinating the trip in conjunction with Noteworthy Tours. “We are looking forward to attending some amazing performances and participating in experiences that are available within a relatively short bus ride.”

Included among the experiences are a concert by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, a performance at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and visits to Navy Pier, the Field Museum, and 360 Chicago (formerly known as the John Hancock Observatory) for a breathtaking view of the lake and city and admission to TILT, an enclosed, glass and steel moveable platform that slowly tilts outward to an angle, generating downward-facing views of Chicago from 1,000 ft. above the city. Other excursions include the Harris Theater, Nitti’s Supper Club, and the Museum of Science and Industry.

With the help of the Music Boosters, the Music Department has conducted two fundraisers  and raised more than $2,500 to help students offset the cost of the trip. A third fundraiser is being finalized. Music Boosters are seeking donations of gift cards of $25 or more, gift baskets, event tickets, and other prizes through March 9.  Please send items to Hamrick, music teacher Grace Brown, or the Music Boosters at cuyhtsmusicboosters@gmail.com. Tickets will be available for sale starting March 10 on the Music Boosters website: https://cuyhtsmusic.ptboard.com/sgnvw
