Middle School students listen to teen librarian.

The Cuyahoga County Public Library offers a variety of digital resources, including ebooks and audiobooks accessible from smartphones, tablets, and computers. Teen Librarian Dottie Lewis from the library system’s Independence Branch shared this information and much more when she visited with Cuyahoga Heights Middle School students on September 20. Her visit was made in partnership with Molly Clay, teacher assistant; and Melissa Meadwell, district library/media specialist.

Lewis emphasized the convenience of digital borrowing and the vast selection of titles available. She encouraged students to utilize various online reading apps accessible through the library system, demonstrated how to use popular reading apps, and explained the simple process of acquiring a library card.

Lewis’ visit is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to promote literacy with its local library, which tries to engage with younger generations in an increasingly digital world. By bringing information directly to students, the library hopes to foster a love of reading and showcase the modern services offered by public libraries.

Anyone interested in obtaining a library card or learning about digital reading options can visit the Independence Branch at 6361 Selig Drive in Independence, or visit the Cuyahoga County Public Library Independence branch website at www.cuyahogalibrary.org.
