Cuyahoga Heights Schools has once again been recognized for its strong financial stewardship, earning the Auditor of State Award for its clean Fiscal Year 2025 audit. The district also received the Fiscal Year 2025 Auditor of State Award for Highest Achievement in Open and Transparent Government.

The recognition was presented by Tina Ludwig, liaison with the Ohio Auditor of State's Office, during the July 27 meeting of the Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education. The district has received the Auditor of State Award numerous times, reflecting its long-standing commitment to sound financial management.

The Auditor of State Award recognizes local governments and school districts that meet the highest standards of financial accountability. To qualify, entities must file timely financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and receive an audit free of findings, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, and questioned costs. Of the nearly 4,200 audits conducted annually by the Auditor of State's Office, only about 10% earn this distinction.

In addition, an entity's management letter must be free of concerns related to ethics, timely financial reporting, bank reconciliations, audit compliance, and public records or public meetings.

Cuyahoga Heights Schools met all of these rigorous standards, demonstrating its continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public resources.

Superintendent Matt Young, Treasurer Matt Muccio, and members of the Board of Education expressed their appreciation to the Treasurer's Office staff of Yalixa Rodriguez, Payroll and HR Specialist, Kathy Martin, Assistant Treasurer for their dedication and professionalism in managing the district's finances and maintaining the high standards required to earn the award.
