The May 26 meeting provided an occasion for the Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education to recognize nine Students of the Month for May. This included two students in one grade level from Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School (CHES), along with one student from each grade at Cuyahoga Heights Middle School (CHMS), and at Cuyahoga Heights High School (CHHS). Students received a certificate commemorating their recognition.
From Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School:
Carter King - Kindergarten
Carter shows what it means to be a CHES student – caring, honest, engaged, and safe – each day at school. Carter works hard in everything he does and consistently shows respect and responsibility in the classroom. Outside of academics, he loves Pokémon, cheering for LeBron James, and following NBA basketball. His competitive drive pushes him to always do his best, whether he is learning in class, playing with friends on the playground, or working towards a goal like in Reflex. Carter is also an amazing artist whose creativity shines in his drawings and projects. His imagination and attention to detail make his work truly special. Most importantly, Carter is a kind friend and an incredible student who leads by example. His positive attitude, strong character, and determination make him a wonderful role model for others.
Adalynn Harvan -- Kindergarten
Adalynn is positive, respectful, kind, and caring to everyone, always using friendly words and including others. She is hardworking and tries her best in everything she does. She is an excellent listener who follows directions carefully and sets a great example for her classmates. One of her special talents is drawing. She creates beautiful pictures and takes great pride in her work.
From Cuyahoga Heights Middle School:
Calvin Gray – Grade 6
Academically, Calvin demonstrates excellence on a daily basis through his focus, effort, curiosity, and willingness to improve. He holds himself to high standards and works incredibly hard to meet them. Moreover, he shows respect and kindness to his peers and teachers. All of these qualities make Calvin a natural leader among the people around him.
Lylah Beno – Grade 7
Lylah truly exemplifies what it means to take initiative both inside and outside the classroom. She is friendly, kind, and respectful to her peers and teachers, and helps to create a positive learning environment for everyone. She consistently asks thoughtful questions and seeks opportunities to improve. Her strong work ethic and dedication to earning good grades are evident in the effort she puts into every assignment.
Alannah Chech – Grade 8
Alannah always comes to class with an upbeat attitude that helps create a welcoming classroom environment. She consistently demonstrates the qualities that make a great student! She leads by example through kindness, respect, and inclusivity. She is a supportive friend who often offers encouragement to her classmates. Additionally, she consistently contributes to class in a thoughtful way, always trying her best. She is a joy to have in class!
From Cuyahoga Heights High School:
Lily Bacci – Grade 9
Lily is a very respectful and kind student. She works exceptionally well with others and is always enthusiastic.
Vaya Pumphrey – Grade 10
Vaya has been a leader in Algebra 1B throughout the year. She comes to class with a positive attitude each day and sets a great example with her work ethic. She participates in class regularly and her positive energy rubs off on others. Her confidence has grown as her performance has improved.
Giada Presot – Grade 11
Giada is dependable, positive, and kind. She is willing to put in the extra mile, and always makes the group better with her great attitude.
Mariama (Mari) Hopkins – Grade 12
Mari works hard in class everyday, maintains a positive attitude, and ultimately demonstrates her proficiency. She is a clear leader, attacking challenging tasks with optimism and enthusiasm, often pulling her less excited peers towards her. She is an excellent problem solver, and often comes up with unique solutions to the tasks posed in class. Her superpower is her ability to bring joy to others.She constantly finds ways to build others up and bring a smile to their face. It is not unusual to receive a kind note from Mari and everyone enjoys her jokes in convocation. Outside of the classroom, she works hard to make people feel included and welcomed. In basketball, she was a great teammate, improving as a player each year, and competing as hard as possible in every game.
