On April 24, the halls of Cuyahoga Heights Elementary School buzzed with excitement as Carson and Austin Bellanger arrived wearing their best professional attire. The sisters had won the “Dean of the Day” and “Elementary Principal for the Day” prize at the PTO Winter Wonderland auction in February.
Their day began with some sweet treats, and then they made their morning rounds alongside the actual administrators taking part in morning announcements, using walkie-talkies, and performing other administrative duties. At lunch, the new administrators enjoyed McDonald’s Happy Meals in the dean’s office—a special perk of the position. As they munched on their chicken nuggets, they discussed the important decisions from their morning.
By the end of the day, both students were ready to send their classmates off and waved goodbye as the buses drove away. Overall, the two learned firsthand what it takes to keep a school running smoothly, and the regular administrators had gained two enthusiastic helpers they wouldn't soon forget.
