Maria Eder
Maria Scali Eder is a longtime resident of the Cuyahoga Heights Schools’ community. Her husband Michael and she have lived in Valley View for more than 20 years. They are the proud parents of two children who attended Cuyahoga Heights Schools from Pre-K through 12th Grade. Anthony graduated in 2011 and Victoria graduated in 2013.
Mrs. Eder joins the Cuyahoga Heights School board after a 35-year career as a Broadcast Journalist. She retired from WJW Fox 8 News - Cleveland in 2016. Her duties there included producing entire newscasts to being a Multi-Media Journalist /On-Air Reporter. Eder also worked at WYTV -Youngstown as a Producer / Director. Her first job out of college was at WKYC - Cleveland as an Assignment Desk Assistant.
Mrs. Eder received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications from Kent State University. She is a 1977 graduate of Garfield Heights High School. She is a huge Cleveland Indians fan, enjoys The Arts, sings in her church choir and speaks Italian.
Mrs. Eder is grateful to the voters for electing her to the Cuyahoga Heights School Board. She is humbled and excited to take on the responsibilities of this new role. She looks forward to making a difference in lives of Cuyahoga Heights’ students and the continued success of the school district
Mrs. Eder was elected as a member of the Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education for a four-year term beginning January 1, 2018. At their organizational meeting the Board appointed her as the Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce and Valley View Economic Development board liaison. She will also be serving on the Student Advisory Committee and Communications Forum this year.
