Seniors and Senior Residents Herold the Holiday Season

Cuyahoga Heights High School seniors and senior citizens came together on December 13 when about 50 residents from Cuyahoga Heights, Brooklyn Heights, and Valley View enjoyed a performance by the band and orchestra in the auditorium. Superintendent Tom Evans greeted the guests. This was followed by a musical dress rehearsal in which the students played a selection of yuletide favorites to help get everyone into the holiday spirit.  Grace Brown directed the orchestra while Noah Harick directed the band. Following the performance, the high school seniors escorted the guests to a luncheon in the gymnasium.

High school seniors assisted the guests to their seats, brought them drinks, helped them make their selections, and replenished the food trays. The senior residents enjoyed sandwiches, potato chips, lemonade and coffee, and dessert –  a selection of homemade holiday cookies donated by school employees.

The students also assisted those residents who opted to have their photo taken in front of a balloon display.  β€œIt was almost as if they were having their prom photo taken,” said Tracy Deal, administrative assistant to the superintendent, who coordinated the event. She expressed her appreciation to the three cities who provided transportation to senior citizens who requested it.
