The Varsity Track program started charting the 4x100 Diesel Relays 15 years ago.  It's a sprint relay for our throwers.  It has become an event that we have in the Varsity Cuyahoga Relays and most of our regular season home meets.  This past Friday, April 13th we had a group break the school record of 62.2 seconds, which has stood since 2010!  Congratulations to Purva Chauhan, Katarina Kiriazis, Alex Pignatiello and Jennifer Grabel on breaking the 4x100 Diesel Relay record with a time of 61.5 seconds!

Romito’s Pizza Athlete of the Week: Eight Questions with Julia Harris

Julia is a freshman on the Cuyahoga Heights Softball Team. She has been a monster in her first two games as a starter. In 10 innings pitched she had 22 strikeouts, 5 hits allowed, 2 earned runs, and 2 walks. Her confidence in the team’s defense has allowed her to focus on her job and dominate the plate!

What’s your favorite thing about Softball?

My favorite thing about softball is being able to build a strong team bond.

Who is your role model and why?

My role model is grandpa because he works hard all of the time and never backs down from a challenge.

What are your plans for after high school?

After high school I plan on going to college.

What’s your favorite subject in school and why?

My favorite subject is math because there is almost always one distinct answer.

What’s your dream job?

My dream job would be something involved with the medical field.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

Before games our team always plays down-by-the-banks.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is Carlos Santana because he is such a great hitter.

What’s your favorite movie?

Mean Girls

The Athletic Department would like to thank Romito’s Pizza for providing each of our Athletes of the Week with a complimentary pizza and supporting their achievements on and off the playing field.

On Tuesday, April 10th the Varsity Girls and Boys Track Teams hosted the 19th Annual George Gross Invitational.  This is a huge annual event and could not have happened without a true family and community effort!  George Gross, himself (pictured below), made an appearance to help the event run smoothly!  A total of 31 different athletes scored for the Cuyahoga Heights Teams.  The girls scored 70 points, finishing in 6th place.  The boys scored 193 points, bringing home a first place finish.  Great job, Varsity Girls and Boys Track Teams and keep up the good work!
