Social Studies

Grade 7
Year course

AIMS: The seventh grade focuses on prehistory through the Renaissance, utilizing this time period to cover people and regions that are predominantly found in the Eastern Hemisphere. Though the regions differ in size and type, they provide the information necessary to place them in the context of the six strands of social studies, which are:

American Heritage--strand 1 People in Societies--strand 2 World Interactions--strand 3 Decision Making and Resources--strand 4 Democratic Processes--strand 5 Citizenship Rights and Responsibilities--strand 6 Furthermore, the people, places and events that are studied from a historical perspective are relevant in that they provide a baseline from which students can begin to examine our own cultural heritage. This is accomplished primarily by comparing historical precedents with modern events.return to top
