Guidance Services PreKindergarten - Grade 12

  • Small group and individual counseling.
  • Various career related programs.
  • Coordinate and administer all forms of student assessment - Interest Test, Proficiency Tests, PLAN, PSAT, and Achievement and Aptitude Tests.
  • Specific need programs at different levels, i.e., Stranger Danger, Making Friends, Conflict Mediation Dealing With Divorce, Reducing Stress, Test Preparation, Gifted and Talented, Decision Making and Social Skills, Career Shadowing, etc.
  • Monitor student progress and bring together parents, teachers, and students to confer when needed.
  • Monthly newsletters to parents highlighting various issues such as dealing with children in the most effective manner, using school as a resource, what, when and how of college financial aid.
  • Involve "at-risk" children in a variety of activities both in and out of school.
  • Organize career seminars/fairs EC-12.
  • Interpret test results for staff, parents and students.
  • Serve as participants in IEP planning for children.
  • Participate in the development of drug prevention activities and programs throughout the year.
  • Serve as a conduit to various ancillary programs, i.e., Post Secondary (half day at high school and half day at college), Home Tutoring, College Visitation and Career Shadowing, Night School, Vocational School Programming, etc.
  • Monitor student progress via progress reports, report cards, on-going classroom assessment and work as part of a team to maximize student achievement.
  • Oversee and organize data and paper work involving student records, transcript and reports, statistical data involving student assessment, attendance, and state mandates via EMIS reporting.
