Safe School Environment
Our district makes every attempt to provide a safe environment for students during the school day as well as at any event held in one of the school facilities. In accordance with this procedure, the school district may elect to use a breathalyzer, metal detector or similar device at any or all campus events when the occasion of “probable cause” is evidenced.

Construction Technology
(One Semester course--5 periods per week--1/2 credit)
Grades 9, 10,11,12
AIMS: Students will develop an appreciation for the many careers available in the construction industry and will learn the basic skills needed for those careers.
CONTENT: Students will study all processes involved in residential construction. Instruction on building codes and permits, plans, materials, and construction methods will be provided as well as experience building large group projects.

Electronics/Computer Technology
(One Semester course--5 periods per week--1/2 credit)
Grades 9, 10,11,12
Prerequisite: Algebra is preferred
AIMS: To provide students with a basic understanding of the principles of electricity and computer technology.
CONTENT: Atomic theory, Ohm's Law, Watts Law, and simple circuit design. The use of test equipment and experimental procedures in electronics will be investigated.

Machining and Metals Technology
(One Semester course--5 periods per week--1/2 credit)
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
AIMS: To provide students with enrichment in Machine Shop skills.
CONTENT: Skills related to engine lathes, horizontal and vertical milling machines, drill presses, grinding operations, sawing operations, machinists' vocabulary skills, bench operations, molding and casting skills.

Photography I
(One Semester course--5 periods per week--1/2 credit-also listed under Art)
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: 35mm adjustable camera required--student supplies film and papers--
Student fee, $10.00
AIMS: This course is designed for the student with no formal photographic experience. The students will become aware of the camera as an art form and a means of expression.
CONTENT: Students will take their own pictures, develop film, and learn enlarging and dark room techniques. Photo areas include landscapes, portraits, action, still life, and architectural photographs.

Photography II
(One Semester course--5 periods per week--1/2 credit-also listed under Art)
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: 35mm adjustable camera required--student supplies film and papers--
Student fee, $10.00
NOTE: Additional opportunities are available through Independent Study after successful completion of Photography II.
AIMS: This course is designed as a continuation of Photography I. There will be added experiences in composition, manipulation of media, and exploration into careers.
CONTENT: Students will take their own pictures, develop film, and learn advanced enlarging and dark room and color techniques. Photo areas include landscapes, portraits, action, still life, and architectural photographs.

Technology Modules
(1 Semester course--5 periods per week--1/2 credit)
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
AIMS: To provide experiences in all areas covered in the technology lab. Students will work from two to four weeks in each of the technology modules.
CONTENT: Students will perform experiments in Mechanics, Pneumatics, Bio-medical technology, Aerospace and Aeronautics, Alternative energy, Graphics, and Video production.

Woodworking 1
(Year course--5 periods per week--1 credit)
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
AIMS: To provide expanded skills in woodworking, which will enable the students to produce wood projects for home and hobby and develop, project planning and layout skills.
CONTENT: Instruction in stationary power tools, portable power tools and hand tools. Emphasis will be put on planning projects, fastening, jointing, wood joints and finishing a woodworking project. This course is designed for students with no prior high school woodworking experience.

Advanced Woodworking
(Year course--5 periods per week--1 credit)
Grades 10, 11, 12
AIMS: To provide students with skills and techniques in furniture and cabinet making. This course is designed for students who have previously taken Woodworking I.
CONTENT: All topics will be expanded to greater detail and projects are usually larger and more detailed than those of Woodworking I.

Commercial Production and Manufacturing
(Year course--5 periods per week--1 credit)
Grades 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Successful completion of 1 year of Woodworking or other Industrial Technology Course.
AIMS: To provide students with the opportunity to explore and apply business, management, production and marketing principles, based on "real-world" activities and projects.
CONTENT: This course will focus on the formation and organization of a company, on related production systems and processes, and marketing. This hands-on approach parallels real-world activities that focus on systematic planning, and learning by doing through research, critical thinking and problem-solving.

Engineering Graphics and Computer Aided Design
(Year course--5 periods--1 credit)
Grades 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Algebra and/or geometry is preferred
AIMS: To provide basic skills and exploration in the fields of engineering and architectural design graphics. This program is designed to prepare students for drafting and design in a variety of technological fields.
CONTENT: Students will learn the correct use of all-drafting instruments and media. Instruction in geometric construction, orthographic projection, view relationships, and isometric views will be stressed in the first semester. Elevations, floor plans, sight development, and architectural perspectives will be stressed in the second semester.
