Third Grade Is . . .
- A Bridge between Primary and Intermediate Grades
- Developing Responsibility - for themselves and their work
- Cooperation between child, home and school for success.
Grading
- Some percentage grades and some letter grades will be used to help make an easier transition to 4th Grade.
Assignment Sheets - Form of Communication
- Parent/Guardian should sign each evening after seeing completed homework.
- Goal is to receive a stamp the next day & a sticker on Friday for being signed each day.
- Consistency and cooperation are both very important.
- No homework on weekends.
Friday Folders - Form of Communication
- Parent and child are able to review the week's work together
- Folder is returned each Monday with Parent/Guardian 's signature
- Folder provides an opportunity for communication between home and school.
- Avoids any surprises at Report Card times.
Book Reports - Cooperative effort between home and school
- Responsibility - child needs to complete the book and the report within the assigned time.
- Cooperation Teacher- assists in choosing appropriate book - explains how to use story element hand Parents - set aside reading time each evening - help with "hand paper" - correct spelling
Social Studies - Developing Study and Listening Skills
- Chapters from text
- Test after each chapter
- Tests will include multiple choice, matching, map skills, and one paragraph essay questions.
- Daily reviews in class orally and with visuals.
- Text and study sheets will come home to review for the test.
- Garage Sale Economics - Develops economic concepts needed for Proficiency Test.
