Third Grade Is . . .

  1. A Bridge between Primary and Intermediate Grades
  2. Developing Responsibility - for themselves and their work
  3. Cooperation between child, home and school for success.
Grading
  1. Some percentage grades and some letter grades will be used to help make an easier transition to 4th Grade.
Assignment Sheets - Form of Communication
  1. Parent/Guardian should sign each evening after seeing completed homework.
  2. Goal is to receive a stamp the next day & a sticker on Friday for being signed each day.
  3. Consistency and cooperation are both very important.
  4. No homework on weekends.
Friday Folders - Form of Communication
  1. Parent and child are able to review the week's work together
  2. Folder is returned each Monday with Parent/Guardian 's signature
  3. Folder provides an opportunity for communication between home and school.
  4. Avoids any surprises at Report Card times.
Book Reports - Cooperative effort between home and school
  • Responsibility - child needs to complete the book and the report within the assigned time.
  • Cooperation Teacher- assists in choosing appropriate book - explains how to use story element hand Parents - set aside reading time each evening - help with "hand paper" - correct spelling
Social Studies - Developing Study and Listening Skills
  1. Chapters from text
    1. Test after each chapter
    2. Tests will include multiple choice, matching, map skills, and one paragraph essay questions.
    3. Daily reviews in class orally and with visuals.
    4. Text and study sheets will come home to review for the test.
  2. Garage Sale Economics - Develops economic concepts needed for Proficiency Test.
