Fourth Grade
Fourth grade is an exciting learning experience, as the skills and habits acquired though the student’s elementary years are extended and used in the rigorous 4th grade curriculum.
We look forward to a year of growth and healthy transition for the fourth graders guided by the cooperation of both home and the school community.
We hope to:
- Develop independent learners who work with accuracy, think deeply and critically
- Create productive and responsible citizens and lifelong learners
- Encourage thoughtful discussions among peers as well as with teachers
- Instill core values such as responsibility, respect, generosity, and cooperation
- Treat others with respect and kindness
Our Routines
The fourth grade uses an agenda to help teach organization and responsibility. It is a useful form of communication between the students, teachers, and home. Important information for the week will be recorded in these, such as:
- Spelling list
- Homework Assignments
- Test and Project Dates
Your child will be completing:
- Weekly reading log (at least 20 minutes a night)
- Weekly journal (starting during the third quarter)
The fourth graders spend time on Study Island to practice and reinforce skills learned.
Progress Book will be used through out the school year to record and monitor progress and grades of the students. It provides an avenue for parents to track academic progress from home.
