Rules & Regulations Governing Use of School Facilities by Local Adult Groups
It is the intent of the Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education to cooperate and encourage use of the athletic facilities of the school district with local industries and other adult groups. In return, the Board of Education expects the adult participants to show proper concern, respect, and control -- not only over their group, but toward public school property as well, i.e., gymnasium, locker/shower room, equipment, and parking lots.
Abusive behavior and damage to school facilities will not be tolerated. Abuse of the property and/or disregard of the rules and regulations may result in the termination of the privilege to use the school's facilities, per Board of Education policy KG-R.
Of special concern should be the relationship established with the custodial/security staff. The custodian and security monitor are employees of the school system. Their decisions and actions, with regard to the enforcement of the rules and regulations stated below, should be followed without question.
Rules & Regulations
- School athletic teams and other school activity groups will have priority in the use of a facility.
- The use of any facility is solely for adult members of the organization granted the facility; participants must be a member of, or employed by the organization utilizing the facilities. "Outsiders" and any individuals under eighteen years of age will not be permitted in the building.
- Indoor facilities will be available Mondays through Thursdays from October 15 to March 31. The facilities will not be available during winter or spring breaks, and all legal holidays.
- If the school is closed due to weather conditions, information regarding its closing will be given on the phone message recording. In the case of cancellation due to school contests taking precedence over a date, the company will be notified by letter and/or fax.
- The use of gym facilities will begin at 7:00 p.m. unless other arrangements are approved on the use of facility form. Groups should not be in the building before their designated time.
- All groups must be off the gym floor by 9:00 p.m. and out of the building by 9:15 p.m.
- The use of alcoholic beverages or smoking is strictly forbidden in the building or on school premises. Violation of this regulation may lead to the loss of the use of a facility by the group.
- Please replace all equipment being used. Groups will be responsible for damaged or missing equipment.
- The Cuyahoga Heights Board of Education will not be responsible for any injuries sustained by an individual or damage to, or loss of, an individual's property while using the school facilities. All participants must complete a waiver-release form prior to using the athletic facility.
