Varsity Track Diesel Relays Accomplishment
The Varsity Track program started charting the 4x100 Diesel Relays 15 years ago.  It's a sprint relay for our throwers.  It has become an event that we have in the Varsity Cuyahoga Relays and most of our regular season home meets.  This past Friday, April 13th we had a group break the school record of 62.2 seconds, which has stood since 2010!  Congratulations to Purva Chauhan, Katarina Kiriazis, Alex Pignatiello and Jennifer Grabel on breaking the 4x100 Diesel Relay record with a time of 61.5 seconds!

 AP Honor Roll Banner

We are proud to announce that the Cuyahoga Heights Local School District is one of 447 school districts in the U.S. and Canada being honored by the College Board with placement on the 8th Annual AP® District Honor Roll.  To be included on the 8th Annual Honor Roll, the Cuyahoga Heights Local School District had to, since 2015, increase the number of students participating in AP while also increasing or maintaining the percentage of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher. To read more about the AP Honor Roll, please click here.

This is the second time in four years that our district has been recognized with this honor – repeat selection of this national recognition is a rare occurrence. Congratulations to our AP teachers, students and families, as well as all who support efforts of excellence in academics, arts, and athletics in our district. This award is, in large part, the result of the PreK through 12 student-centered focus by our entire school community of Empowering Students to Reach New Heights. Congratulations and thank you!

Evan Ellacott Wins Voice of Democracy Honors image Evan Ellacott Wins Voice of Democracy Honors

Cuyahoga Heights senior Evan Ellacott was recently honored with the Voice of Democracy Youth Scholarship presented on behalf of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for his passion and love of democracy.  Commander Mike Rebeta and Senior Vice Commander Nada Fleming from VFW Post 7609 presented Evan with a certificate and $200.00 scholarship award during a brief ceremony on Friday, April 7th at Cuyahoga Heights High School.  After graduation, Evan plans on attending Baldwin-Wallace University to pursue a degree in Film Studies.  The Voice of Democracy was established by the VFW in 1947 and provides high school students, grades 9 – 12, with the unique opportunity to express themselves through a democratic or patriotism-inspired essay. Across the country, high school students benefit from the generosity of the VFW, who use this scholarship as a way of investing in future generations of American patriotism. Congratulations Evan! The Cuyahoga Heights Schools is proud of your accomplishments and love for country!

Welcome Back Matt Klinger

Cuyahoga Heights Welcomes Back 2001 Graduate Matt Klinger as Guest Speaker

Matt Klinger, a 2001 graduate of Cuyahoga Heights High School received a warm welcome from students and staff as he returned to the district for a special presentation in the South Gym on Wednesday, November 16th. Drawing on his life experiences, including those as a former Cuyahoga Heights student-athlete and his career in the business sector, Matt addressed students from the Middle School and High School on how being committed to doing the “little things” such as hard work, sacrifice and being respectful are critical to achieving one’s definition of success. A two-time state wrestling champion, Matt shared how going the extra mile during training and in practice helped him to achieve success on the mat during his time at Cuyahoga Heights High School.

After graduation, Matt continued his wrestling career at Cleveland State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in in 2006. Shortly after graduation, Matt moved to Boise, Idaho, where he currently resides with his wife and three children. As President of SPL Consulting, Matt seeks to help businesses achieve continued growth by improving sales and marketing efforts, as well as networking with other businesses.

The Cuyahoga Heights Schools would like to thank Matt Klinger for taking the time to give back to current students, and wish him continued success in the future!
