Cuyahoga Heights Elementary Teacher Dr. Matthew Luginbill was recently named a state finalist for the 2018 Ohio Teacher of the Year award, in addition to being recognized as the 2018 Teacher of the Year for State Board of Education District 11. The award program recognizes influential and inspiring educators in the State of Ohio. A Kindergarten teacher, Dr. Luginbill was nominated for the District 11 award by the Cuyahoga Heights Schools, and was selected as the recipient by State Board of Education member Meryl Johnson and a committee of educators, parents and business leaders. The winner of the 2018 Ohio Teacher of the Year award will be selected by a panel of education and community stakeholders, and announced during the fall of 2017.
An early childhood educator for the past fifteen years, Dr. Luginbill’s passion for helping students learn is evident in his innovative and creative use of 21st century technology in the classroom, as well as his ability to connect content to real-world experiences. Dr. Luginbill has also demonstrated a commitment to professional development and lifelong learning by recently earning a doctorate from the urban education program at Cleveland State University. The Cuyahoga Heights Schools congratulate Dr. Matthew Luginbill on being named 2018 Teacher of the Year for State Board of Education District 11, and for proudly representing the district!
