The staff and students at Cuyahoga Heights Schools use technology as a tool to enhance teaching and learning and to provide students with the skills and experiences needed for success and lifelong learning in the 21st Century.
Being a small school district, we are very proud of the technology that we are able to offer. Technology is used from Pre-K through 12th Grade. There are three computer labs in the Elementary School and five computer labs in the Middle/High School for student and classroom use. Rolling carts with netbooks are also available for checkout as mobile computer labs. Our wireless campus supports the Digital Academy program, Student Netbook Program, and a wide variety of mobile devices.
Teachers who participate in the Digital Academy program receive a laptop computer, projector, document camera, interactive whiteboard and audio system. This program was implemented in 2006 to support the teachers in educating the 21st century learner. All teachers have been trained with this equipment and are using it on a daily basis.
All high school students have the opportunity to participate in the Student Netbook Program. In this program, students receive a netbook to be used in the classroom for educational purposes. The size and portability makes these netbooks great for student use. Students use these netbooks to access the variety of online programs and educational resources that are offered.
Our media center provides various electronic resources to assist the students with research. These resources are available for teacher and student use from Pre-K through 12th grade. All students from 2nd grade and up have a Gmail account which gives them access to receive important school information and the use of Google Docs. Blackboard, Moodle, and a wiki site are available for classroom use.
We are very proud of the technology that is offered at Cuyahoga Heights Schools. Our job in the Technology Department is to support the staff and students with technology and assist in integrating it into education. Students are encouraged to visit us in the Technology Learning Center if they need assistance or are having a problem. Feel free to contact us at the information below if you have any questions or comments.
