Class of 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The Athletic Hall of Fame committee is pleased to announce the selection of six individuals and two teams for induction into the Cuyahoga Heights Athletic Hall of Fame, as the Class of 2017.

The individual Hall of Fame inductees include: Mike Krimmel ’03; Daniel Kaliszewski ’04; Jessica Matt ’04; Kimberly Skully ’05; Mark Soldat ’05; and Crystal DeBolt ’06. All of these individuals excelled in multiple sports and were heavily decorated with regular and post-season honors that included All Conference, All District and All Ohio. Additionally they provided numerous record-setting performances.

The 1954 and 1967 boys’ track teams performances in Columbus took the Cuyahoga Heights Redskins to the brink of state titles, being denied both years by just by two points.

The 1954 State Runner-up track team that won two events participants were: Bob Sramek ‘54; Rich Peak ‘56; Jim Koran ‘54; Al Bohning ‘55; Bruce Koran ‘55; Bob Bohning ’54; Ron Weitz ’55, Ron Kulkar ‘54 and Jim Whitelaw ‘54.

The 1967 State Runner-up track team that won three events participants were: Mike Bohdan ‘69; Jerry Humphrey ‘69; Bob Tonne ‘67; Ralph Baracz ‘67; Ken Koch ‘67; Phil Vari ‘68 and Bill Lukcso ‘67.

CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS SCHOOLS HOSTED JOE LABELLA 2-ON-2 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Cuyahoga Heights Schools hosted the Joe LaBella 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament on Thursday, July 13th and raised $400 for the Joe LaBella Scholarship Fund. There was a nice turnout with seven teams in the middle school division, ten teams in the 9th and 10th grade division and then twenty teams in the open division.
