Great Job to the Redskins Swim Team and Best of Luck at the Swimming State Championship Meet!
The Redskins Swim Team competed in the District Championship meet this past Friday, February 16th. The team of Stefani Attewell, Mara Voytek, Victoria Kattler, and Kenni Voytek finished in sixth place overall in Northeast Ohio. The ladies started out the meet in an amazing fashion, making school history by qualifying the first relay for the State Championship. The ladies broke their own school record by almost three seconds. This race set the tone for the remainder of the meet. Victoria swam the first individual event in the 200 free and jumped up one spot in the final placement. Next, Kenni swam the 50 free and also jumped up one spot. Mara and Stefani were up next in the 100 fly. Both ladies broke the previous school record, with Mara taking third overall and breaking her record by over two seconds and Stefani taking seventh. They both qualified for State in this event. In the 500 free, Victoria dropped another two seconds and Mara finished fifth overall, qualifying for State. Stefani went next in the 100 back. She shattered her own school record by three seconds and qualified for State in her second individual event. In the 100 breast, Kenni beat her own time by almost a full second. Finally, the girls swam the 400 free relay, crushing their own school record by four seconds and qualifying the second relay to State. Going into the State Championship, the ladies are seeded 16th overall.
Good luck at the State Championship Meet!
